Frequently asked questions

Here is a little information you may require before your arrival. If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

  • What are your FRONT DESK HOURS?

    Our front desk is open from 7am - 11pm; outside these hours, front desk is watched by our Night Guard. Please notify us in advance if you are checking in /out outside our front desk hours.

  • What time is CHECK IN / CHECK OUT?

    Check-in time is 3pm and check-out time is at noon.

    We can store your luggage if you arrive early or if you leave after check-out time and would like to stay a couple of more hours on the beach.

    In this case, you will be able to take a shower and change in our lobby bathroom.

    Please note late check outs are always subject to availability and have to be confirmed with concierge.


    Your room balance is due upon arrival; in case you arrive after 11pm, check-in registration will be the following morning.

    We accept cash payment in Mexican Pesos, US dollars with a fixed exchange rate, or credit card: Visa Master Card.

    Please note, we ask all our guests for a credit card deposit which will be released at check out.


    Charges like food and drinks from Ziggy’s bar restaurant can be put on your room and paid at check-out. Restaurant tickets need to be signed by you each time you would like to put a charge on your room.

  • Do you have 24h ELECTRICITY?

    The Hotel generates its own electricity on-site and we provide our guests with 24-hour electricity. For this reason, we invite guests to switch off lights, AC and all electronic devices when leaving the room to save energy.

  • Do the rooms have AIR CONDITIONING?

    All our rooms have air-conditioning from 5pm to 9am.

  • What about WIFI LANDLINES?

    Tulum beach area is not appointed with a power grid or landlines, water or gas pipes. We generate our own electricity and refill our water and gas tanks. Wifi reception is best at the lobby or restaurant. Therefore, the best way to contact us is via email.

  • Are you an ADULT ONLY HOTEL?

    Yes, The Beach Tulum is an adult only Hotel, you have to be 18 years old to be checked in. All our rooms are designed for double occupancy (king-size bed).

  • Can I bring my PET?

    Pets are not allowed on the premises. Mexican law forbids pets on the beach.

  • Can I pay in PESOS or DOLLARS?

    We accept cash and credit cards in Mexican Pesos and US Dollars. Most of the shops and restaurants accept both. However, it is recommended to carry smaller amounts of cash as many local restaurants and businesses often have no change available.

  • Do I have to TIP?

    Tipping is optional but very common and highly appreciated by the whole staff.

  • Can you arrange AIRPORT TRANSFERS for me?

  • How much is a TAXI to town?

    A taxi from our Hotel to town costs approx.100 pesos/8usd for (one way).

  • What do I need TO BRING with me?
    • Bring Sunblock and insect repellent. Please use only biodegradable sun block and insect repellent when visiting the famous and unique Cenotes, lagoons or the nearby Sian Ka’an biosphere.
    • Also, bring a torch with you as Tulum beach area is off the power grid and there are no street lights.
    • Don’t forget a camera to take amazing pictures, bathing suit / bikini and very casual clothing.
    • Tulum’s restaurants and bars have no dress code, everything is very relaxed.
  • What’s the BEST TIME to visit?

  • When is HURRICANE Season?

    Rainy season begins June 1st and ends November 30th. However the months with more precipitation are narrowed to September and October.

    During these months it can rain all night with sunny days. However, when there is a tropical storm in the area it can also rain during the day.

    As these months are usually very hot, the rain is often a refreshing change to cool off the temperature.

    Also, the more it rains the less the risk of Hurricane formation.

  • Is there a SECURITY SAFE in the room?

    All rooms are appointed with a safe, we highly recommend our guests to store all valuable items and important documents in there.

  • Do you recommend TRAVEL INSURANCE?

    We recommend it to all our guests to avoid the inconvenience of flight delays or cancellations, especially during rainy and hurricane season.

    Your travel insurance should also cover you in case of illness or accident and theft.

  • Where can I find an ATM?

    There are several ATMs located both in town and along the beach. We suggest using the ATMs that are affiliated with actual banks located in Tulum town or in the two large supermarkets.

    We advise you to notify your bank and credit card providers that you will be traveling to Mexico to avoid any complications you may have when using your card abroad.
